Boscombe Pier beach, Bournemouth
  • Sandy
  • Water Sports
  • Surfing
  • Disabled Access

In contrast to the delicate wrought-iron and ornate detail of Britain’s Victorian piers, Boscombe Pier is a modern streamlined affair. It has an audacious, almost Googie-style entrance with a geometric cantilevered roof, for all intents and purposes like the wings of a jet. The message is clear – Boscombe Pier has landed.

Lovely sandy beach, plentiful lifeguards, your basic amenities and a big blow up slide - what more could you ask for?

Truly memorable day.

Land trains, arcades and fairground attractions and rides - Bournemouth was buzzing'!! There was a glorious beach and fun atmosphere - it was great!

Added by Alayne Alcock on 13/08/2011 17:15:36

Lovely sandy beach, sea ideal for inflatable’s, parking better at Durley Chimes end ( a bit cheaper). You can ride land train along from Bournemouth Pier to Alum Chimes which is very enjoyable - better on a sunny day. Pier a bit disappointing - have to pay small fee to enter and not really much on their apart from a few fair rides for younger children.

We were on this beach sat 9th July 2011. Lovely flat sand beach, it was very windy, very but we had a good time anyway, children went into the sea, but it was cold! brrrrrrrrrrrr, lol! Lots to do, eat and see!

Stunning beach with magnificent views, need to have a roll mat or cushion to sit on as the boulders aren,t comfy but well worth it!

Added by C Gardener on 25/08/2012 09:54:14

If sandcastle building and swimming is what you are looking for then this is not the place to be. It is a beautiful pebble beach that has spectacular views and is fantastic to be there to sit and relax. The Visitors centre is excellent and has recently been refurbished and made bigger. There is also a cafe there. The fishing is good and mackerel are caught there. We often go there.

Added by Yvonne on 22/06/2011 17:21:05

It was very windy when we visited probably not the best time to visit as it was a bit bleak. We were disappointed at the lack of facillities at the visitor centre, no tea or pee provision. On a positive note the beach was clean & there is plenty of parking.

Absolutely gorgeous, stunning place. You have got to visit, its best place to be in the Dorset - love it...

Added by Tula Pitts on 25/06/2012 19:32:34

Brilliant place, spent our honey moon there 22 years ago and revisited this year.

Added by Hadlington Family on 22/04/2012 18:54:05

Beautiful Jurassic coast, great for rock pools swimming and family beach fun, clear bay, best of Britain. Long steep paths down and up but much improved in recent years, we just went to watch the sun set and the lighthouse light up. Magical.

Totally Amazing, bit of a trek down some steps, but well worth it. Perfect clear water - loved it!

Added by Diane on 01/10/2011 13:44:22

Gorgeous - worth the walk down, the kids loved seeing the small fish swimming in the water.

Added by Christopher Lewis on 21/07/2011 15:44:46

Lovely place to visit, great walk even though it was tiring it was worth it, wear the right footwear not crocs like I did. Great views and if you like a cream tea then there is a place that has a secret garden to enjoy and relax in after your long walk.

Added by Yvonne on 22/06/2011 17:24:09

Beautiful, well worth the walk down the cliff to get to it.

Added by Lulu on 06/04/2012 08:52:33

If you have difficulty walking this is not the beach for you. Very steep decent and even steeper ascent. The view is fantastic and the water crystal clear. The steps down to the beach are so steep with no hand rails so you have to be very careful with your footing. Parking fees are high £3 for 2 hours and you need the 2 hours to get down and back.

A lovely place to go - lots of rock pools and fossils to explore for. Not a lot of sand but the area is great to visit. Children love to play in the sea and it is so pretty.

Added by Deb Smith on 28/07/2011 10:16:04

Cracking sandy beach, shops and town nestled right behind. Not a big place but perfect for that day on the beach if the sun is shining.

Added by Christopher Lewis on 21/07/2011 15:41:58

This is one of the best beaches I have been to for a long time. Great for adults and children alike. If you want everything at hand for a great stay then Swanage is the place to go and the kids will love it.

Added by P Thomson on 06/07/2011 11:22:13

Amazing for kids! Lovely town with stunning beach.

Added by Ann Clark on 15/06/2011 11:31:46

It’s a lovely beach and a beautiful place to stop and rest whilst walking. We had a great time walking through the town and also the trip on the train. We also had a lovely cup of coffee at the station and the cheese scones were out of this world. Excellent day out!

Added by Steve Alderton on 28/03/2012 16:52:25

Superb beach - very clean.
