Beaches in Wales

There are a huge range of beaches in Wales many of which are only a short drive from our holidays parks. But how do you choose? Well we have put together a list of our favourite Welsh beaches to help make it easier for you.

Rest Bay, Porthcrawl

Rest Bay has been awarded the coveted European Blue Flag plus a Tidy Britain Seaside Award and is a surfer's paradise. The beach here holds waves up to 6ft+ on good days and, more often than not, has nice hollow sections at low tide around the cliff.


Dunraven Bay, Southerndown

This beach in South Wales is a sandy, pebble beach is mainly used for swimming and surfing. The heritage coast centre is also sited at the beach interpreting local coastal conservation interests.


South Beach, Tenby

This is one of Wales cleanest and safest beaches, South beach has 2 kilometres of golden sands and is backed by sand dunes and looks out toward Caldey Island. The South Beach has won a Tidy Britain Group Seaside Award.


Castle Beach, Tenby

Castle Beach lies in the cove between Castle Hill and the East Cliff. At low tides it is possible to walk out to St. Catherine's island, but take care that the tide does not cut you off.


North Beach, Tenby

This beach is one of Tenby's finest beaches with its golden stretch of sandy beach, dotted with occasional rock pools. The beach holds an EC Blue Flag award and the water quality is excellent, complying with EC guideline standards.


Whitmore Bay, Barry Island

Barry Island is a well known and busy summer holiday resort with all the usual seaside town amenities, including fair grounds, amusements and plenty of accomodation. The beach is a sandy bay positioned between two limestone headlands. The soft sand provides plenty of space for sunbathing or sandcastle building with plenty of rock pools to discover.


Three Cliffs Bay, Gower

The Bay in South Wales offers some of the most spectacular views in the country. Walks are very popular from this beach, up and down steep sand dunes from Pennard and Penmaen, or through the valley bottom from Parkmill.


Oxwich Bay, Gower

Oxwich Bay is one of Gower's most popular beaches, with good access, plenty of parking, shops and two and half miles of golden sand backed by sand dunes, salt marshes and woodland. It is a haven for all types of watersports including, diving, sailing, water-skiing and windsurfing, with a slipway to the beach.


Rhossili Bay, Gower

The is one of South Wales largest and most popular beaches, the bay stretches for over three miles, has several surfing schools providing lessons during the summer.


Trecco Bay, Porthcawl

Trecco Bay just outside Porthcawl is a small sandy bay with rocks at its southern end. Access to the beach is gained through the Trecco Bay Holiday Park, which is signposted from Porthcawl. Trecco Bay is suited to intermediate or expert windsurfers and can provide excellent jumping conditions in a Westerly wind. The rocks and rips here make it unsuitable for beginners.


Pendine Sands beach, Pendine

The sand at this beach is about as good as it gets. This beach was used to stage five successful World Land Speed Records in the 1920's at speeds of around 170mph. The beach is busy at weekends and for Bank holidays and becomes hugely popular with families. The beach is a short walk form Pendine Sands Holiday Park.
