The British Open Golf 2009 returns to Tunberry, 16th – 19th July
The British Golf Open

This year Tunberry, Scotland host the 138th British Open Golf Championship. The Tunberry course has hosted the Open four times previously, last hosting the Open in 1994 when Nick Price won the tournament.

However the Open tournament the Ailsa Course is most recognised for is the Open Championship finish in 1977 when Tom Watson beat Jack Nicklaus by one shot in the battle which became known as the "Duel in the Sun", and is arguably the best finish in a championship. A tournament which won Tunberry, and the Ailsa course a place in every golf lovers heart.

This year's British Open Golf championship is promising to be another spectacular event as it its’ return to Tunberry after a break of 15 years. With more than 80 world class professional golfers competing for the Claret Jug, and with England’s Poulter tipped as a strong contender, this Open is not to be missed.

Sundrum Castle and Southerness Holiday Parks are set just outside Tunberry and are only a short distance from other world-renowned golf courses; providing a perfect base to enjoy the Open from. What’s more both Sundrum and Southerness are packed with great facilities for the kids and entertainment to keep the whole family entertained, so you’re golfing holiday does not need to be a golfing holiday for the whole family!
