Winchester

Winchester is a traditional English City and nicely mixes in the modern day influences without making the city loose its traditional feel. The city is dominated by the beautiful 11th century cathedral and the Great Hall which is home to the famous Round Table. As well as the historic buildings and picturesque streets Winchester has an array of nice bars, pubs, restaurants and shops. Winchester is also placed next to the river and very close to countryside meaning there are many nice walks in the area.

A great place to visit, lovely laid out streets, great shopping and a lovely cathedral to wander around without being told what to pay. Also quite a bit of the old city walls to walk around. A great day out.

Nice town, good shops plus a great internet cafe let me on 2 hours on a laptop just a £1! Good choice of transport. Fleet is by bus with connections to Basingstoke and Farnborough by rail. Near Fleet is Frimley Green for World Darts Champs and hospital where Prince Edward's children were born too. Good for commuters for a break Hampshire has lots to offer.

Basingstoke

Basingstoke is an old town which has been through a modern transformation; the old streets are now lined with fresh looking café’s and bistros. There is also a large leisure complex and the popular Festival Palace shopping centre. However the town has kept some if its character in the Milestones Museum, here you can walk around the Victorian streets and visit the shops and work places of the past.

Hayling Island

Hayling Island is a holidaymakers dream; it has everything you would want from a traditional seaside holiday as well as fantastic modern sporting facilities. The island is surrounded by five miles of beautiful sandy beaches and is the only place in Europe to be awarded with two blue flag beaches, perfect for water sports, volleyball and bathing.

A lovely peaceful place to visit, many beautiful walks and the only sounds being the birds singing. A real get away from it all experience. Plenty of places to eat and drink with very friendly people to keep you informed of what's where etc. A place to come back to again.

Portsmouth

Portsmouth is a city surrounded by the sea and due to its location it has always been linked strongly to the Royal Navy. The connection is seen throughout the city with many museums including Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Royal Marines Museum. As well as all the history Portsmouth has many modern hotspots around the city including, Gunwharf Quays which is a premier waterfront shopping and entertainment complex and Spinnaker Tower which is 170m high and gives you some amazing views of the city and surroundings.

Beautiful town to visit. Nice view from Spinnaker tower with hand held explanation of the objects you can see. Do not forget to visit the small church at the sea front. The guild can tell nice stories. Starting from the parking at the seafront he guided way (with floor markings) leads you through the round and square towers at the seafront and the spice island. To the Spinnaker Tower.

Nice around the Gunwharf area. We have been up the Spinnaker Tower previously and enjoyed it very much. Didn't do it this time. Shops are nice. Nice walk along Southsea seafront.

Great historic city with plenty to see and do. The Spinnaker Tower can be seen and is fun if you like heights. Castles like Portchester just outside Portsmouth en route to Fareham another town in-between Portsmouth and Southampton. Museums and the Maritime Mary Rose make Pompey as its nicknamed not just somewhere to visit. Handy for ferries and good connections to Brighton, Southampton, Havant etc.
