Pike Fishing

Pic 1 of 10
This is all you need for a days pike fishing (roach dead baits, set of trebles, float)

Hunt the hunters!

All you need is a good carp rod and a simple float set up! Simply put it is like any float fishing but on a bigger scale; for best results you should be using a 15lb main line attached to a 25lb wire trace, with semi barbless treble hooks (size 8).

The most popular bait is smelt, which seems to produce the most takes in this kind of fishing. You need a large float i.e. a medium BOBBER so you suspend the dead bait under the float. Your next job is to hunt the hunters!

As pike are an aggressive feeding fish, that hide away under the banks and around old tree stumps and this is the area to target. The bait needs to be in these areas to give you the best results so just sit back and wait . if you see a fish roll do not be afraid to move or cast to it, as it means the fish is in a feeding mood so get your bait in that area and wait - good hunting.

Do not forget to record your catch at the tackle shop to enter the biggest fish of the week

Please note do not put your fingers any where the pikes mouth because they have very sharp teeth
(Use forceps to unhook these fish)

Don't forget if you have a picture of your fishing experience at Warmwell and you would like to see it on the website send it in an email to robbray@parkdeanholidays.com
