Difficult road, but worth it when you get there... Would've liked to have seen some other entertainment other than just singing

A beautiful area, accessed by narrow lanes and near a sandy lovely beach. Very quiet with a restaurant and shop. Half a mile walk to Bigbury on Sea. When we booked we immediately rang to request parking nearby as we are disabled. We were advised to pay for an upgrade to guarantee parking nearby as it was allocation on arrival but it was noted and we did get parking next to the caravan without paying for an upgrade to accommodate our disability. Meadow 32 was an older mobile home and the seating was shabby worn and low but we came prepared with our own cushion seats. There was also a smell of dogs and 3 out of 4 bulbs were not working in the living area and we reported this.

Lovely unspoilt area but quite remote location which we liked but I know from speaking to other holidaymakers it was too remote for some. We had great weather during our stay which in our view made it overall an enjoyable holiday.

Fantastic site

Well, having never been to this area before or the site I was very apprehensive on arrival. We were allocated a sea view caravan with full central heating.

The park itself is very clean and has everything you need, food is great and you can sit and watch the sea. Walks are good over to Big Bury on Sea bay where you can walk to Burgh Island.

Highly recommend this site will be... Read full story »

We took our two grandchildren aged 4 and 7 to Challaborough Bay, with the promise that the beach was closer than a walk to our local Play Park. That was their idea of heaven and one they were looking forward to on the journey to Devon.

We took our two grandchildren aged 4 and 7 to Challaborough Bay, with the promise that the beach was closer than a walk to our local Play Park. That was their idea of heaven and one they were looking forward to on the journey to Devon.

On arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown to our caravan, which was quite an upgrade against what we were expecting and we were also much closer to the beach than the children expected. We would normally use our accommodation as the basis for exploring the area, but with the beach, kiddies club, swimming pool and Bigbury Bay just a short walk away, our car didn't move for the week we were there.

Even with one day of poor weather, it didn't dampen our enthusiasm for Parkdean, as there was always plenty of entertainment, in a secure and safe environment for children.

In short, the holiday experience exceeded our expectations, but during the journey home we asked the children to rate the holiday out of ten and the little one said.......... 153.

Lovely Get Away

Just arrived home this Monday after a 3 night break at Challaborough Bay - was a lovely site, lovely views and very friendly people. The home we stayed in was immaculate, as was a fairly new one. Almost went back to reception to check we got the right home...! The entertainment was good, although compared to other Parkdean parks I have visited the club house was small. The swimming pool was very... Read full story »

The swimming pool was very clean.

My only criticism is that it is very secluded which was nice but did not like the thought of travelling through the scary country lanes to visit surrounding areas. But my daughters 5yrs and 1yr enjoyed the site and the beach. Also absolutely no telephone reception at all on park, so emergency calls can only be made via reception.

Our stay at Challaborough Bay

We had a lovely break at Challaborough Bay, even though we had a couple of days of rain. This was no hardship as we went swimming, the pool and surrounding area was clean and manned by 2 lifeguards. Everywhere on site was clean and it was only a short walk to the beach, a lovely bay, great if you have kiddies.

The staff were all friendly, from the site staff to the office and... Read full story »

The staff were all friendly, from the site staff to the office and bar/restaurant. There was a good selection of food on the menu, (spoilt for choice really), and the prices were very reasonable.

The only downside was the road into and out of the camp, very narrow, but there are passing places. It was like a mini adventure going up and down the lane, never knowing what would be coming the other way. A lovely area, would recommend it.
