Mawgan Porth beach, Newquay

There are better-known and busier beaches in Cornwall, but few can match the raw beauty of Mawgan Porth. Shielded on both sides by cliffs, it has acres of soft white sand, rock pools, caves and magical sunsets. The surf is ideal for beginners, and there is a school on the beach.

Watergate Bay, Newquay

As with all the beaches in Newquay Bay, Watergate provides some good waves. Combined with it’s size and location this has made it very popular with local surf schools and perhaps best known the Extreme Academy.

Fistral beach, Newquay

Newquay, if not Cornwall's, most popular beach and at the very heart of the British surfing scene. Fistral is often dived up into three areas: South Fistral, the main beach and Little Fistral. The first two are fairly self explanatory, Little Fistral is the norhtern most part of the beach and is only really there at low tide.

Crantock beach, Newquay

Crantock beach forms part of the expanse of sand between Pentire and West Pentire headlands. At the southern end of the beach are high cliffs providing some shelter from the wind. To the north is the mouth of the River Gannel, very much diminshed from it's heyday when it was a navigable port.

Customer Reviews

"A stunning beach located only a stones throw from our favourite holiday parks. You can always get a spot and when the sun shines it is one of my favourite beaches in Cornwall. A must visit if you are staying round and about!"

David Emmerson from Derbyshire

Rock beach, Padstow

Rock could hardly be less appropriately named as its popularity is largely due to the long stretches of fine sandy beaches washed by the tidal waters of the Camel estuary.  Rightly acclaimed as one of the major watersports centres in Cornwall with sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and canoeing.

Polzeath beach, Wadebridge

Polzeath is situated on the North coast of Cornwall, it hosts a fantastic beach and village and is also one of the worlds most renowned surfing destinations.

Trevone Bay, Padstow

Pleasant sandy bay popular with families. There is a small slope to the beach (and steps from one of the car parks). To the west of the main beach there is also a rocky beach with tidal pool. There is excellent scenery and good coastal walks to Trevose Head

Harlyn Bay, Padstow

Harlyn Bay is an excellent beach for all manor of seaside activities. The bay is excellent for surfing, swimming and sunbathing, with some fine walks along headlands in either direction.

Mother Iveys Bay, Padstow

A picturesque and pleasant sandy beach. Unfortunately there are no facilities and no parking. Access is via the coast path, a 20 minute walk from Harlyn Bay

Hollywell Bay, Newquay

A huge sandy beach with extensive sand dunes, popular with families and surfers. Facilities are nearby and there is level access to the beach

Constantine Bay, Padstow

A wide sandy beach with many rock pools and plenty of sand. There is a sloping path to the beach. Parking is limited at Constantine Bay and its better to park at Treyarnon Bay and walk the coast path to Constantine Bay

Perranporth beach, Perranporth

Large seaside town with a huge sandy beach which stretches 2 miles to the north. There are also extensive sand dunes and all the expected facilities

Trevaunance beach, St Agnes

A sandy cove popular with surfers. Plenty of facilities but parking is limited. Access to the beach is via the road, but note this is fairly steep

Chapel Porth beach, St Agnes

The beach comies to life and clear blue water meeting the stretch of fine sand framed by the green of the cliffs. However, even on calm days Chapel Porth is not without its hazzards - getting cut off by the incoming tide is a real danger so be careful

Porthtowan beach, Redruth

Porthtowan beach still has large areas of dry sands at high tide, stretching to the north making it possible to walk to St Agnes head at low tide, passing through Chapel Porth on the way, again owned by The National Trust Seafaring pursuit's are extensively practised within the area during the summer months including, Lobster, Crab, and Mackerel fishing, together with catching a wave (surfing) and swimming for the more energetic.

Portwrinkle beach, Redruth

Two sand and shingle beaches with numerous rock pools. Popular with families and the east beach (known as Finnygook beach) can be used by experienced surfers.

Downderry beach, Saltash

A wide and spacious sand/shingle beach with many rock pools at low tide. The main part of the beach is accessible via a path (next to the toilets) or via the slipway. The east part of the beach which stretches for half a mile is usually quiet due to difficult access.

Seaton beach, Looe

A spacious grey sand beach popular with families. All facilities are close by and access to the beach is level. Note that the car parks can get full on hot summer days. At low tide the beach stretches all the way to Downderry beach.

Looe beach, Looe

The main East Looe Beach is a large sandy beach with man made seating areas and rocks to one side and Banjo Pier to the other. At low tide, it is a vast expanse of flat sand and even at high tide, a very large area of beach remains. This beach is very close to Looe Bay Holiday Park.

Hannafore point beach, Looe

Hannafore Beach stretches from Hannafore Point along Marine Drive and actually consists of two beaches, Hannafore Beach & Wallace Beach. It is predominantly a rocky beach with shingle and some patches of course sand at low tide.

Lantic Bay beach, Fowey

South East Cornwall's best kept secret, a quiet sheltered cove with white sands, feeling more like the Mediterranean, than Cornwall. An excellent beach, but it can be difficult to find. Bathing can be hazardous and the toilets are some distance away.

Kynance beach, Lizard

Popular since Victorian times, the brilliant turquoise water and white sand, with islands, caves and unexpected views are still a powerful draw today. Located less than 2 miles from The Lizard and once remote and difficult to get to, The National Trust built a new toll road to a large car park on the downs above the cove.

Mullion Cove, Lizard

This beach is on the doorstep of Mullion Holiday Park, it is a picturesque cove and harbour, which has a small sandy beach, the cove is a part of the beautiful Lizard Penisula which offers some of the most gorgeous views in the country.

Marazion beach, Penzance

Mostly sand with a few pebbly patches, Marazion beach is an ideal family beach with safe, clean water, lifeguard patrol, the convinience of the nearby town and a good children's playground located on the green behind.

Kennack Sands beach, Helston

Kennack Sands is next door to our Sea Acres Holiday Park. The beach is very popular with families due to its cleanliness and safety. The beach is a part of Cornwall’s spectacular Lizard coastline giving you some spectacular views.

Porthminster Beach, St Ives

The longest beach in St Ives is probably the cleanest as well; this beach is mainly popular with families. The beach is long and sandy with the conditions of the sea being very calm. Lifeguards are on duty over summer.
