Well, it’s almost that time, Scotland Bank Holiday weekend is nearly upon us, and we’ve decided to pick a few ‘wee’ events to keep an eye out for at a park near you!

Sundrum Castle

Smugglers Day at Culzean Castle & Country Park, Saturday 2nd August

Hear tales of the past, watch re-enactments and experience the rich heritage of Ayrshire. Learn tricks of the trade from some of Scotland’s most notorious smugglers and discover Culzean’s 40 historical buildings and follies whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings of the estate.



Dumfries Ghost Walk, Wednesday 6th August

If you’re after something a bit different during your stay, try the Dumfries Ghost Walk. Led by paranormal experts, explore Dumfries like never before and hear tales of tragedies, ghouls, murders & witchcraft revealing the hidden history of darkest Dumfries! A fantastic excursion for anyone interested in curious characters, harrowing history & spine tingling ghost stories. Special family tickets are also available and tours start at 9pm.


Wemyss Bay

Summer Fun on the Water at Sports Scotland National Centre, dates throughout August

Sports Scotland National Centre is just 40 minutes’ drive from Wemyss Bay Holiday Park and they’re offering some superb activities throughout August! Nairn Lochloy

Culbin Cycle at Culbin Forest, Sunday 3rd August

Culbin forest is located just a 20 minute drive from Nairn Lochloy holiday park. At over 9,000 acres in size, the forest has plenty to offer with an extensive array of wildlife and nature trails to explore. Take your own bicycle along for the Culbin Cycle, or rent one for the day for £15, and enjoy a guided group cycle along the forest’s fascinating network of trails. Plus, stunning views from the top of the Hill 99 tower are not to be missed!



Tummel Valley

Family Fun Day at Atholl Palace, Sunday 3rd August

Atholl Palace sees a family fun day taking place in aid of Maggie’s Centres this summer. Set in the beautiful grounds of Atholl Palace, there’ll be plenty of family fun with face painting, bouncy castles, a zip slide, pipe band and falconry displays. Plus, refreshments and live entertainment amidst the picturesque palace gardens throughout the day.

Dornoch Highland Gathering, Friday 1st August

The Dornoch Highland Gathering is one of the most anticipated events in Dornoch and the focal point of the summer for many. First held in 1887, the gathering is a day of traditional Scottish games including athletics, piping, dancing, cycling & running that will appeal to young and old alike. There’ll also be plenty of stalls, sideshows, crafts and amusements for the whole family to enjoy whilst taking in Dornoch’s rich Scottish culture.
