Our Most Romantic Locations…

We enjoy quality time with loved ones all year round, as well as Valentine’s Day… if you’re like us, keep reading as you’ll love our list of romantic spots around the UK which are perfect for a Valentine’s Day visit, or at any time of the year. They also happen to be perfect locations for a proposal, too (hint, hint)!

Castell Coch

Tongwynlais, Cardiff

Castell Coch© Crown copyright (2016) Visit Wales

Imagine being Prince, Princess, King or Queen for the day at Castell Coch (Red Castle), with a building so stunning it looks like it’s been pulled right from a fairytale. The castle is adorned with beautiful furnishings and murals, and this year marks it’s 125th anniversary – even more reason to make a visit in 2016. Trecco Bay Holiday Park, 34 minutes drive away, also happens to be open over Valentine’s Day too, have we sealed the deal yet?

Exmoor National Park

ExmoorJohn Shortland

If you love trying out new activities, Exmoor National Park is for you. With fishing, climbing, canoeing and much more, there’s plenty to do to make it a memorable day. Our favourite activity is stargazing – hire a telescope, pack a midnight picnic and head to one of the many official ‘dark spots’ to gaze at the stars and spot astronomical sights. Join us at Ruda Holiday Park and you’re only an hour away from these stunning sights and exciting activities.

Minack Open Air Theatre

 Porthcurno, Penzance

Minack Theatre

If you can’t make it to one of the fantastic drama, musical or operatic performances during summer days or evenings, Minack Theatre is open all year round for you to wander the grassy areas and take in the stunning views. The sub-tropical gardens are an attraction in themselves and the café views are unmissable. With Mullion Holiday Park and Holywell Bay Holiday Park both around an hour way, you have a choice of places to stay while visiting.

Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park

There are so many sites around Loch Lomond, you’re bound to find something you love. Pack your walking boots and explore the two forest areas or spend the day at Loch Lomond Shores, which includes a visitor information centre at the most popular gateway to the park, as well as an aquarium, birds of prey sanctuary, shops and restaurants.

Sweetheart Abbey

New Abbey, By Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway

Sweetheart Abbey

If the name doesn’t make you want to visit this gorgeous red-sandstone ruin, maybe the origin behind the naming will – When her husband died in 1268, Lady Dervorgilla had his heart embalmed and put in a casket which she carried everywhere. After her death, she was laid to rest with her husband’s heart and the monks named the abbey in memory of her. Stay at Southerness Holiday Park and you’ll only be 13 minutes away from this stunning historical site.

Lundy Island

Lundy Island

We’ll let our Head Chef at Ruda Holiday Park, Chris, sell this one to you – Lundy Island was the location of his first date with Ruda’s Restaurant Supervisor: “We took a 2 hour boat from Illfracombe (approximately 4 miles away from Ruda Holiday Park) and spent the day walking the stretch of the island, climbed the lighthouse and had a picnic in a field overlooking a vast part of the North Devon coastline.  It was beautiful!”
