Des Shipp Wins 2011 Parkdean Masters for the Second Time!

Lucky angler Des Shipp wins the 2011 Parkdean Masters and walks away with £25,000 prize!

Fishing peg 5 on Jenny’s Lake at White Acres Holiday Park, on Saturday 15 October, Des Shipp recorded a match weight of 87lb 8oz to win the event and claim the Parkdean Masters £25,000 first prize.

Des made match history by becoming the only angler to win the Parkdean Masters twice. The England international from Bristol adds his 2011 crown to the first title he won in 2007.

Des said, “I feel like I really needed that win. It was time I won something else. I’ve been close a few times and not managed to come through so I’m over the moon to have won it.”

He was pushed all the way by rival Paul Yates and nobody could be sure which angler was going to take the victory until the scales revealed all. After a nail biting final hour Paul took second place with a weight of 79lb from peg 8

Paul Yates said, “I just had no idea which of us had won it until the weigh in. It was a brilliant match and I know there’s nothing else I could have done. The fish kept on coming every chuck. The question was whether they were big enough to beat Des.”

Paul Holland, the last of the 24 competitors to make it through to the Parkdean Masters final, claimed third place from Peg 9 with 56lb 15oz. Wales international Lee Edwards was fourth, with 48lb 13oz from Peg 4.
