Cornwall Is the Place to Be Thanks to New BBC Drama Poldark

Bookings to Mullion and Sea Acres Holiday Parks in Cornwall have soared since the eagerly anticipated remake of BBC period drama Poldark started on BBC1 this month.

The stunning coastal scenes of the drama’s hero Ross Poldark riding along the cliffs in Cornwall have captured the nation’s imagination, with more than seven million viewers tuning in to watch the pilot episode on Sunday 8th March 2015.

Based on the novels written by former Cornish resident Winston Graham, the BBC’s Poldark follows a handsome soldier who returns from the American War of Independence to his native land of Cornwall, where his family runs a local mine.

Chief Executive, John Waterworth said: “It’s great to see Cornwall on our screens at the weekend; it’s a beautiful county which is why we have the majority of our holiday parks there. There is enough choice for anyone wanting to visit – whether you’re looking for surf, fishing villages, the perfect Cornish ice-cream, swimming pools in the sun or fishing, there’s a Parkdean park in Cornwall that’s got it.”

“Parkdean Holidays has eight Holiday Parks in Cornwall, all with striking views of the local landscape – it’s an ideal destination for all ages – and certainly a love story.”

The latest figures from visitcornwall.com report a 65% increase in traffic since the first episode of Poldark aired.
