Here comes the summer! Delicious Family BBQ Ideas…

The sun is shining and it’s perfect weather to crack out the barbecue and cook up a storm!

There’s nothing like a barbecue to get the family together, but we know it can be stressful cooking for adults while keeping the kids happy too.

That’s why we’ve put together 3 delicious ideas for meat eaters, veggies and a sweet treat for the kids, all of which are barbecue friendly!

Meaty Spanish Burgers

These yummy Meaty Spanish Burgers are sure to go down a treat with the whole family. Quick, easy and delicious, perfect for fueling up before hitting the beach!

o  1 onion (red or white depending on preference)

o 1 egg, beaten

o 700g steak mince

o 1tbsp olive oil

o 6 large slices thinly cut chorizo

o 6 rolls or buns

o handful rocket salad

o 6tbsp mayonnaise

o 2tbsp paprika

                                                                                        o leafy salad, to serve

Makes: 6 burgers

Grate the onion roughly, then combine with the egg and mince and season to taste. Using your hands, make 6 thick burgers and coat them lightly with oil. Cook on a hot barbecue for 5-10 minutes until browned and cooked all the way through. Add the chorizo slices to the barbecue for the last minute of cooking.

We like to toast the buns but you can leave them cold too. Place the burgers on the bun half and top with the chorizo and leaves. Mix the mayonnaise and paprika, spread on the other bun half, then sandwich together. Serve with leafy salad.

Veggie Halloumi Kebabs

These Veggie Kebabs are delightful whether you’re a meat eater or not, and any leftovers can be added to salad for a great picnic dish!

o Tinned new potatoes

o Olive oil, for dressing

o 2 x 250g packs halloumi cheese, cut into cubes

o 3 bell peppers, deseeded and cut into large pieces

Makes: 6 kebabs

Drain the potatoes and cut in half, add to a large bowl and add in a good glug of oil. Add the halloumi and peppers, adding seasoning to taste as you go.

Thread the potatoes, peppers and halloumi alternately on to 6 skewers.

Cook over a medium-hot barbecue for about 10 minutes, turning regularly, until evenly cooked and brown on all sides. Serve hot.

Marshmallow Skewers, perfect for kids (and adults too!)

For a delicious dessert with minimal effort and even less cleaning up, these Marshmallow Skewers are a perfect treat!

o 1 bag of pink and white marshmallows

o Jams and spreads to serve

Makes: Many!

Skewer 3 or 4 marshmallows on to cocktail sticks or bamboo skewers and hold them briefly over the hot coals using an oven glove. Turn the marshmallows as soon as they begin to brown and melt. Remove once all sides have begun to brown and place on a plate lined with baking paper. Serve with lots of jams and chocolate spreads. Dig in!
