Pitch Hopping – Discover the Best of the South West in 8 Days!

The best thing about touring and camping is that ability to pitch up anywhere, whenever you like! Think enjoying the simple pleasures of the great outdoors, beautiful scenic views and getting out and about discovering the very best of our diverse locations. So, why stay at one park when you could discover the delights of four in one getaway?

Some seasoned pros might be accustomed to pitch hopping but for those just beginning their adventures, here’s our guide to making the most of 8 days in the South West to get you started…

Take in the views at Mullion, Cornwall

Start off your journey at Mullion Holiday Park with a two night break where you’ll be on the doorstep of the famous Lizard Peninsula and have the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic views.

This area of the UK is famous for its scenic coastal routes, so head to Mullion Cove which lies only 2.7 miles from park where you can begin a coastal walk all the way down to Lizard Point and the local village. This will take you along the exposed cliffs dropping down onto beaches and past natural open coves before hitting Lizard Point, the southernmost point of mainland Britain. Check out our ‘Walking in The Lizard Peninsula’ blog for more walking ideas!

Mullion is also famous for Scuba diving off the coast, remember to book into our on-park PADI scuba diving lessons and you’ll be able to get the practice in before hitting the big waves.

Next stop – Holywell Bay just 34 miles away!

Walk in Bond’s footsteps at Holywell Bay, Cornwall

Travel North West up the coast and pitch up moments from the waves at Holywell Bay Holiday Park. Spend a further two nights in this idyllic location and enjoy an open sandy beach just metres from the park, Holywell Beach’s natural beauty has even made appearances in big budget TV and film productions. In 2002 the lifeguard hut was converted into a bunker for the hit Bond blockbuster ‘Die Another Day’ – and although the film set has gone, the spectacular views certainly still remain. Discover more famous film locations from Holywell Bay with our Hidden Treasures.

Head down to the beach with a picnic in hand and take in the views of this famous beach.  There are also lots of opportunities to explore rock pools, splash in the waves and we’d highly recommend surf lessons with our friends at Cornwall Surf Academy!

With lots of amenities nearby such as a café, toilets, pubs and even a golf course you could easily while away a couple of days here. Don’t forget to join in with the evening entertainment in the Ellenglaze Bar and Grill before retiring under the stars.

Hop in the car and your next stop Newquay is only 9 miles away!

Surf’s up at Newquay, Cornwall

Newquay is your next 2 night stop, and surfing is a must! Pitch up at Newquay Holiday Park just three miles out of town in a peaceful countryside location. You’ll be close to nine famous surfing beaches, blue seas and the most captivating coastlines you could possibly imagine. Whether you’re a surfing beginner or an expert, all ages can have a go on the waves – there’s no excuse not to spend some time down on the many fabulously action-packed beaches of Newquay.

Plus, when you’re not in town or down on the beaches, you can enjoy a splash around in our three heated outdoor pools – last one in’s a rotten egg!

Next, and final, stop is Ruda only 84 miles away.

Canter the golden sands of Putsborough Beach in Ruda, Devon

And finally cross over into Devon and end your amazing eight day camping adventure right on Croyde Bay Beach at Ruda Holiday Park.

There’s plenty to do in the area with spectacular beaches, views that’ll make you want to stay longer and quaint little villages dotted around. Our on park activities are fun for all the family day or night and don’t forget to get your costumes for a splash about Cascades Tropical Adventure Pool!

Fancy trekking through idyllic Croyde village, or cantering along the golden sands of Putsborough Beach? Just metres from the park you’ll find Roylands Riding Stables who offer horse riding lessons, beach rides and even pony trekking experiences to meet everyone’s needs, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider there’s fun to be had for all.

Complete your trip by watching a spectacular sunset over the ocean (Croyde’s famed for them!) and reminiscing on all the good times you’ve had across your eight days spent in the beautiful South West.
