What’s on this July at Parkdean?

Here’s just a few of our picks of things to do this July, at a park near you!

Wales

Porthcawl Carnival 2014 takes place on the 19th July and not too far from our Trecco Bay Holiday Park and this year’s theme is Porthcawl 1914. Expect to see some fancy dress, with many people wearing 1914 Porthcawl items to bring back the memories of pre & post world war one. Starting at Sandy bay, the carnival winds its way up through the streets to finish off at the rugby club where there will be live entertainment, stalls & refreshments for all to enjoy. The day starts at 1.30pm and starts to wind down by 5pm and it’s a great way to look at the history of Porthcawl. Don’t forget to look out for the First World War centenary event taking place 2nd & 3rd August!

Scotland

If you’re visiting Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park, why not take a visit to the Highland capital of Inverness where the 2014 Inverness Highland Games will take place on the 19th July. This year celebrates the 150th anniversary of the opening of the home of the Northern Meeting Park, the world’s oldest Highland Games Stadium. The day is packed full of events from Highland dancing, to junior athletics and, the adrenaline pumping Inverness Stone, Scots Hammer & Tossing the Caber. A one not to be missed, tickets are available on the day.

Cornwall

Tropical Pressure Festival, 18th-20th July, is packed full of live music, food, dancing & culture. The family friendly event is just 40 minutes from Mullion Holiday Park and there are some beautiful views overlooking the sea that will come alive with sounds, sights & flavours of three different continents. Friday sees Latin America take centre stage, a Caribbean the focus on the Saturday and finally the sounds of Africa on the Sunday. The festival is also unique in offering 100% vegetarian food with a world food market offering delicious freshly prepared food from around the world.

The Boconnoc Steam Fair takes place in the ground of the Boconnoc Estate between the 18th-20th July, not far from Looe Bay Holiday Park. The steam fair is one of the leading events in the South West and showcases some historic steam vehicles from full sized and miniature steam engines to motorbikes, old tractors, sleek classic cars & military vehicles. You can then experience the wonderful grounds of the Boconnoc estate by taking a ride on a steam engine and seeing the beautiful lake with its weeping willow centre piece. Once you’ve taken it all in, head over to the crafts stalls, trade stands & take the little ones to the fun fair. Round off the day by heading up to the licensed beer tent and enjoy a pint in the sun.

Dorset

The RNLI are a superb organisation and they are running their annual Raft Race next to West Bay Holiday Park on the 24th July. Watch homemade rafts race, and of course sink, down the local river. Teams of up to 6 fight it out for the fastest raft, highest sponsorship raised & of course the best dressed raft! This will provide a few hysterics and some family entertainment as there will be plenty going on during the evening. Starts from 7pm.

Summer Breeze on the Quay is a free festival that takes place every Thursday from the 24th July right through to the end of August. It offers fabulous free live music as well as other entertainment followed by the grand finale, a fireworks display over the largest natural harbour in Europe. The event starts from 7pm with the fireworks taking place over Poole harbour at 10pm. There is plenty of fun for all the family to enjoy, and best of all; it’s a free event & just a 7 minute drive from our Sandford Holiday Park.
