Celebrate St Andrew’s Day In Style

The 30th of November marks St Andrew’s Day, Scotland’s national day to commemorate their patron saint. The national holiday celebrates Scottish culture with plenty of local cuisine, music and dance.

The day is traditionally the feast day of St Andrew. He was first made the official patron saint of Scotland at the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. He is thought to have been crucified to an X shaped cross in Greece by the Romans on the 30th of November 60AD, which is why Scots celebrate his life on this day. His crucifixion is also represented by the white cross on the Scottish flag, the Saltire.

For those who are holidaying in Scotland around St Andrew’s Day, we’ve handpicked some of the best events in the country, so you can join in on the celebrations too.
