Cornwall’s Eden Sessions

Cornwall’s incredible landscape makes it the ideal setting for a variety of music festivals and events. The Eden Sessions are a perfect example of this, held throughout the summer months in the spectacular setting of the Eden Project, near Par. The sessions feature a series of different concerts showcasing world-class artists, and the site is renowned for providing fantastic natural acoustics against a stunning backdrop.

If you’re holidaying in Cornwall this summer, the Eden Sessions are made up of plenty of different events – meaning there’s a good chance that there will be one on whilst you’re there. Here at Parkdean Holidays, we’ve taken a look at all you need to know about these brilliant one-day music festivals.

Line Up

Looking to attend this year’s Eden Sessions? Here’s the full line up, so you can get the dates in your diary if there are any one-day events you fancy going to see!

15th June – Bastille

The London band released their second studio album Wild World in September, which soared to the number one spot in the UK album charts. Expect to hear hits such as Good Grief, Send Them Off! and Blame. Supporting Bastille will be Rationale, a London-based producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

16th June – Madness

With 15 top ten singles under their belt, Madness are one of the most successful British pop groups of all time. Get ready to sing along to well-known songs such as Baggy Trousers, House of Fun and My Girl. The much loved eight-piece reggae band Backbeat Soundsystem will be on support duties.

22nd June – Royal Blood

The Brighton pair who make up Royal Blood are Mike Kerr (vocals and bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums). Their huge, hard-edged sound has led to them being known as the saviours of rock music, so the audience is in for a great night! Royal Blood will be joined by punk rock band Turbowolf.

23rd June – Blondie

New wave superstars Blondie have sold over 40 million albums, with well-known hits such as The Tide is High, Atomic and Maria. They last played in Cornwall back in 1999, and the Eden Sessions is one of just two dates that they’ll perform in the UK this summer. It’s safe to say that this will be an incredible show.

1st July – Van Morrison

The Belfast-born legend Sir Van Morrison is one of the most respected musicians of all time, having won six Grammys, a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution and plenty more awards and attributions. He last performed in Cornwall 16 years ago, so this isn’t someone who you’ll get the chance to see very often. Paul Brady, Ruarri Joseph (performing as William the Conqueror), Nathan Ball and Kezia will be providing an afternoon of live music ahead of Van Morrison’s headline show.

6th July – Bryan Adams

Canadian star Bryan Adams is famous for tunes such as Summer of ’69, Run to You and (Everything I Do) I Do It for You. He won the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia for contributions to popular music and in 2015, he released his thirteenth studio album.

11th July – Foals

Indie rock legends Foals are only making two UK appearances this year, and luckily one of these is the Eden Sessions! This will be one of the most intimate shows they’ve played for years, so it’s sure to be very special. Expect them to belt out bangers such as Total Life Forever, Holy Fire and Spanish Sahara. They’ll be joined by art-pop pioneers Everything Everything.

Accommodation and Travel

Both White Acres Holiday Park and Newquay Holiday Park are under 30 minutes’ drive away from the Eden Project, so they’re a great base if you’re planning on attending any of the events. Both holiday parks offer a variety of two and three-bed caravans, which are ideal if you’re a couple, family or a group. If you’re seeking a little more luxury and space, both holiday parks have lodges available too. All of our caravans and lodges include free gas, electricity and bed linen, as well as full use of all of the facilities and entertainment.

Travelling by Car

It’s easy to get to the Eden Sessions by car from Newquay Holiday Park. Simply head east on the A3059 before taking the fourth exit at the roundabout onto the A39. Then, at the next roundabout, take the second exit to stay on the A39. At the roundabout, come off at the second exit onto the A30 slip road to Bodmin/Roche/B3274, and merge onto the A30. Take the A389 slip road to Wadebridge/St Austell/A391 and then at the roundabout take the fourth exit. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto the A391, then continuing following the signs to the Eden Project.

From White Acres, head straight onto the A392 before getting on to the A30, and then the directions are the same as if you were travelling from Newquay Holiday Park. Once you’re on the A391, the Eden Project will be clearly signposted, but if in doubt, the postcode for your sat nav is PL24 2SG.

Travelling by Bus

Buses to the Eden Project operate throughout the day to and from Newquay Station, which is close to both Newquay and White Acres Holiday Park. There will be a bus operating to St Austell Station after the concert too, leaving every half an hour from 10pm until midnight.

When You Arrive

The Eden Project has two entrances known as the ‘North’ and ‘East’ gates. Once you’ve parked in the free car park, you can either walk down the sloped pedestrian paths to the site or catch a free park-and-ride bus from the car park to the visitor entrance. During the Eden Sessions, these buses only operate from the top car parks: Cherry, Melon, Mango and Lemon.

Tickets

Eden Sessions only sell tickets through their own booking system, so head to their website if you want to snap some up for yourself. Prices start from £40 for a standard ticket, plus a £5 booking fee.

Each ticket includes entry to the Eden Project itself both on the day of the session and the following day, so we recommend exploring the site. The dramatic and diverse global gardens are housed in a crater that is the size of 30 football pitches, and there’s a whole range of things to do while you’re there. From exploring rainforest environments to flying down England’s longest zip wire, or marvelling at the huge model bee, the Eden Project offers a truly unique day out.
