If you’re thinking about holidaying in the UK this summer, then Cornwall is the place to be. From its picturesque coastline to an array of award-winning attractions, you won’t be stuck for something to do on a visit. The warm weather also means there are plenty of outdoor events and festivals too. Whether you’re into music or water sports, there’s something for everyone in Cornwall.

With summer now in full swing, we’ve taken a look at some of the best events taking place in the region, so you can enjoy a fun-filled family day out on your next holiday to Cornwall.

Skylight Cinema

This summer, Skylight Cinema will be putting on outdoor cinema screenings in several places in Cornwall, so you can enjoy one of your favourite films in one of the region’s most picturesque locations.

Starting from just £3 per person, catching a film in the stunning Cornish landscape is a great activity for either the whole family or for a romantic date. There are a variety of films being shown, ranging from action-packed movies such as The Big Lebowski and Reservoir Dogs, to family favourites such as Mamma Mia.

Just 30 minutes from White Acres Holiday Park, spend the evening watching classics such as Jurassic Park and Grease at the stunning Carlyon Beach. Afterwards, take a midnight stroll along the golden sands, where 3 glorious beaches combine, creating a beautiful romantic setting. Alternatively, head to Dairyland Farm World, under 15 minutes from 4 of our holiday parks in Newquay, for more great movies. Sit back and enjoy the award-winning La La Land or the family-favourite Moana, and tuck into some delicious food and drink from local suppliers.

No summer would be complete without a trip to a festival, and Cornwall has a variety to choose from. From music to food, drink and watersports, there’s something for everyone at Boardmasters.

Boardmasters runs from 9th to 13th August and this classic music festival also celebrates surfing, so you can enjoy listening to some of your favourite bands before heading to the beach to see pro surfers in action. Headliners this year include Jamiroquai, Alt-J and Two Door Cinema, so it’s not to be missed. With Newquay Holiday Park just 10 minutes away, you can enjoy the festival, before heading back to your cosy accommodation.

All music will be held at Watergate Bay, and all surfing and other activities at Fistral Beach, so you can make the most of the beautiful surroundings whilst enjoying the entertainment. Plus, it’s not just surfing and music that you can enjoy. There are so many other activities that are great for the whole family. Whether you want to do morning yoga sessions on the beach, watch aerial and fire performers in the evening, or stay out dancing at one of the night’s many after parties, you won’t be stuck for something to do at Boardmasters.

The Little Orchard Cider and Music Festival

For something a little different, head to The Little Orchard Cider and Music Festival from the 8th to the 10th September. Taking place on Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, just 15 minutes from Holywell Bay Holiday Park, this 3-day event will provide you with live music, secret cider walks, tractor rides and plenty of fantastic food and drink.

As well as welcoming incredible acts such as The Wurzels and Scouting for Girls, some of Cornwall’s local talent will also be taking to the BBC Introducing Stage, showcasing some of the region’s rising stars. And of course, no cider festival would be complete without cider, and here you’ll have over 100 different options to choose from.

There’s plenty to keep the kids entertained too. Circus workshops, face painting, arts and crafts sessions and bouncy castles are on the agenda, as well as a vintage fun fair, giant ferris wheel and bumper cars. Head down to the courtyard, where you can meet all the animals that live there, including ponies, chickens, rabbits, ferrets, goats and pigs.

Fowey Royal Regatta and Carnival Week

Cornwall is renowned for its amazing coastline and every year many water sports fanatics take to the Cornish seas to put their skills to the test. Cornwall is a haven for sailors and there are many competitions throughout the year where you can see hundreds of boats gliding past the shore. Fowey Royal Regatta and Carnival Week, just 40 minutes from White Acres Holiday Park, is one of the most popular events in the region.

The regatta is known as one of Britain’s premier sailing events, and it’s easy to see why. From the 13th to the 19th of August, head to the coast with the whole family and watch the professionals in action as they race to the finish line.

After watching the sailors, compete in crab catching and swimming competitions before spending the evening on the harbour listening to an array of fantastic performances. Don’t miss the amazing annual Red Arrows display, one of the highlights of the Regatta for over 30 years. There’s a colourful carnival to enjoy too, with a parade full of floats, people in fancy dress and marching bands, as well as a firework display over the river and live music on the Town Quay.
