Cornwall Cream of the Crop at British Travel Awards

At this year’s British Travel Awards, Parkdean scooped the silver award for ‘Best UK Holiday Park Operator’, in addition to the Gold awards won in 2011 and 2010. More than one million votes were cast by hoBritish Travel Awards 2012liday makers and industry experts to help the British Travel Awards arrive at their decisions for the gongs.

And we thought it would be a good idea to share with you, some of the awards won by other places and attractions in the UK.

Best UK Holiday County

The ‘Best UK Holiday County or Region’ Award went to Cornwall for the FOURTH consecutive year – a fantastic achievement and endorsement of one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.

The award wasn’t the only success bestowed upon Cornwall at this year’s awards; St Ives was named as the ‘Best UK Coastal Town/Resort’ – the third time it has won this award. Fal River, also in Cornwall and which meanders close to some of the towns and villages close to some of our holiday parks in Cornwall, won the bronze award in the same category thanks to its walks along the Fal River where you can see and enjoy an array of wildlife and areas of outstanding natural beauty that it winds through. The silver award in this category went to Bournemouth, close to our Sandford holiday park in Dorset. With its famous beach and modern Boscombe Beach pier, Bournemouth is a real British seaside treat!

Best UK Leisure Attraction

Aside from its stunning natural beauty, Cornwall is also home to some of the finest attractions in the UK, and you’re never short of things to do and places to visit. The Eden Project is one of the most popular attractions in the region, and this year was handed the top prize in the ‘Best UK Leisure Attraction’ category. As well as being a fantastic family day out and learning experience, the Eden Project also hosts a number of special events throughout the year. Within close reach of our holiday parks in the area such as Looe Bay, White Acres and Newquay, the Eden Project is a must see for anyone staying with us in 2013!

The world famous Minack Theatre won the bronze award in the category for ‘Best UK Heritage Attraction’. The open-air theatre is open for daytime visits, along with its beautiful sub-tropical gardens, and also hosts numerous shows throughout the year too.
