Set Sail on Cornwall’s Best Boat Trips

There’s no denying that Cornwall’s coastline is one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. From dramatic clifftops and mysterious coves, to wonderful wildlife and stunning beaches, there’s so much to see along the shore. And what better way to explore Cornwall’s coastline than by boat?

The region is home to a range of tour operators, each offering unique and unforgettable experiences. Here are some of our favourite boat trips for you to enjoy on your next holiday in Cornwall.

Cornish Day Sailing

If you want to spend a full day on the water, look no further than Cornish Day Sailing, who provide bespoke cruises along the Falmouth coast. On your journey, you’ll find beautiful scenery, wonderful wildlife, and even delicious food!

One of their most popular excursions is the Private Daysail, which lasts for seven exciting hours. Setting sail from the North Quay in Falmouth, just 45 minutes’ drive from both Sea Acres Holiday Park and White Acres Holiday Park, hop on board the Olympus, a 47-foot sailboat, and enjoy a leisurely day on the stunning waters. As well as the coastline, you’ll also explore the River Fal and the River Helford. After a spot of lunch, where you’ll sample tasty Cornish crab and cream tea, you’ll get the chance to take a dip in the sea, so don’t forget your swimming gear!

For something a little more romantic, Cornish Day Sailing also offers a Private Sunset Cruise. Between 6pm and 9pm, sit back and watch the sun go down, whilst enjoying canapes and prosecco.

Marine Discovery

For a chance to see dolphins, sharks, whales and more on your next holiday to Cornwall, take a trip with Marine Discovery. Based next to Penzance Harbour, about 40 minutes’ drive from Mullion Holiday Park, Marine Discovery offers a selection of trips on board their Shearwater II catamaran, providing a wildlife watching experience like no other.

Running between March and November, discover the south-west Cornish coast on a range of different trips. The Discovery Voyage is a four-hour trip, where you’ll search for a range of marine wildlife. A popular spot on the trip is Land’s End, where you’ll find the beautiful seal colonies that call the area home. As well as seals, on the four-hour voyage, you might even catch a glimpse of seabirds, harbour porpoises, minke whales, basking sharks and bottlenose dolphins too.

If you’re travelling with younger children, The Bay Discovery trip is ideal. Lasting an hour and a half, you’ll be taken to the stunning St. Michael’s Mount or St Clement’s Island, where dolphins are often spotted playing in the water!

Padstow Sealife Safaris

Just 30 minutes’ drive from both Newquay Holiday Park and St Minver Holiday Park is Padstow, a beautiful town and fishing port which is home to Padstow Sealife Safaris.

One of the most popular voyages is the Coastal Power Boat Tour, where you’ll spend an exhilarating hour exploring the scenic headland. Along the way, you’ll see stunning views of the historic fishing village of Port Isaac, which you may recognise from the ITV series Doc Martin! As well as coastal villages, this thrilling tour will also take you past mysterious caves, rocky coves and beautiful granite cliffs.

For those looking to discover marine wildlife, the Sealife Safari Boat Trip is perfect. Covering 25 miles of the coastline, you’ll search the waters for an array of marine life, including seals, dolphins, porpoises and even basking sharks! Between April and July, you’ll also be able to visit Puffin Island, one of the last places in Cornwall where you can see these beautiful birds nesting.

Padstow Sealife Safaris also offer Skippered Boat Hire, giving you the opportunity to hire your own boat! Whether it’s up to Boscastle or down to Newquay, the experienced sailors will take you there, telling you all about the local area along the way.

Fowey River Trips and Sea Cruises

Although Cornwall’s coastline is spectacular, it’s not the only place worth discovering. Fowey River Trips and Sea Cruises, based just 40 minutes’ drive from Looe Bay Holiday Park, offer a wide range of trips where you can cruise along one of Cornwall’s beautiful rivers.

Explore the River Fowey on the popular 45-minute River and Harbour Cruise, where you’ll pass plenty of attractions, including Fowey Docks and Readymoney Cove. Another popular tour is the three-hour round trip to Lostwithiel, a small town located on the river. Here, you can hop off the boat and explore what this beautiful town has to offer. Whilst you’re there, be sure to visit Restormel Castle, a 13th-century fortress offering panoramic views, woodland wildlife and hundreds of years of fascinating history.

If you’re looking for another riverside town or village to explore, then try the two and a half hour round trip to Lerryn. Nestled on the east bank of the River Fowey, there’s so much to see in this small, charming village. One of Lerryn’s main attractions is Tivoli Park. Once a popular place for regattas and funfairs, the park is now overgrown, but you can still see the remains of bandstands, fountains and the plunge pool on a visit to this mysterious, eerie woodland.
