Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week in Cornwall

There’s nothing more British than afternoon tea, and if you’re holidaying in Cornwall, now is the perfect time to sample some of the region’s finest. With Afternoon Tea Week taking place between the 14th and 20th of August, you can celebrate in style at an array of fantastic cafes and restaurants around the region.

Whether you’re looking for delicious savoury delights or tasty sweet treats, you’ll find it all in Cornwall. Here are five of our favourite places in the region where you can celebrate Afternoon Tea Week.

Fowey Hall

Just over 30 minutes’ drive from White Acres Holiday Park is Fowey Hall, a luxury manor overlooking the Fowey Estuary. With views of the fishing port and sea in the distance, it’s the perfect location to enjoy delicious afternoon tea.

From a selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes to warm scones and Cornish clotted cream, you can enjoy a range of tasty treats here. And if this wasn’t enough already, you can also upgrade to a Sparking Afternoon Tea if you fancy a tipple or two with your lunch. If the sun is shining, you can sit on the terrace too, and make the most of the stunning views across the estuary. Afterwards, explore the grounds of Fowey Hall, where you’ll find tyre swings, a zip wire ride and climbing frames for the little ones to enjoy.

Trengwainton Tearooms

Located in the heart of Trengwainton Garden is Trengwainton Tearooms, a fantastic place to stop for a bite to eat after exploring the wonderful nearby woodland. The tearoom has won a number of awards over the years, including the CHEFS Gold Award and the Taste of the West Gold Award, so it’s not one to be missed.

Just 40 minutes’ drive from Mullion Holiday Park, Trengwainton Tearooms offer a range of tasty treats. Many of their ingredients come straight from their kitchen garden, just 50 yards away! As well as the traditional afternoon cream tea bites, such as scones, cakes and sandwiches, the tearoom also offers a range of light lunches, including jacket potatoes, omelettes and homemade soups. Dogs are welcome in the tearoom garden too, so it’s a fantastic place to visit with the whole family.

Once you’ve sampled the delicious afternoon tea, head into the heart of Trengwainton Garden, which is bustling with exotic trees and stunning flowers. Follow the winding paths through the woodland and you’ll stumble across a spectacular view out to sea and across Mount’s Bay, a perfect place for a family photo.

Pentillie Castle

If you’re staying at Looe Bay Holiday Park, then you’re just 25 minutes’ drive from Pentillie Castle, a stunning estate dating back to 1698. Surrounded by 2,000 acres of spectacular landscapes, it’s a fantastic place to sit back, relax and enjoy some afternoon tea.

Available every Sunday, Monday and Thursday, Pentillie Castle’s afternoon tea consists of homemade sandwiches, savoury bites, cakes, scones, eclairs and so much more. Once you’ve sampled some delicious food, explore the castle grounds, which are home to some of the finest gardens in Cornwall. Set on the banks of the River Tamar, discover the winding paths and secret spots around the estate, where you’ll see beautiful flowerbeds and wonderful wildlife along the way.
