To ensure that you make the most of your break, whatever the weather, we’ve rounded up the best of Cornwall’s indoor attractions which would make a great day out for all of the family.

National Maritime Museum

Where else in the world can you jump aboard a Viking ship and meet the Vikings, go under the sea without getting wet, learn how to sail, climb a 100ft tower and touch Olympic boats all in one day?

Over 1.5 million people have visited the National Maritime Museum with thousands enjoying the new highly acclaimed Viking Voyagers exhibition. Now in its second and final year, don’t miss your opportunity to take an epic journey into the Viking world.

The Monkey Sanctuary

Nestled into the side of the South Cornish coast between Looe and Seaton, The Monkey Sanctuary makes a great day out to remember.

Set up nearly five decades ago to care for ex-pet monkeys, it is now a permanent, safe home to various species which have all been rescued from conditions of abuse and neglect.

The Monkey Sanctuary is a day out for the whole family. Take a tour of the monkey enclosures to learn about these fascinating animals and stop for a bite to eat at the award winning Treetop Café.  The children will be enticed by the play area, where they can swing like monkeys or take part in themed arts and crafts in the Activity Room. There’s also the Bat Zone where visitors can learn more about the sanctuary’s resident lesser horseshoe bats!

Children can explore One2Eleven Street and have a go at running a supermarket, caring for animals at the vets and repairing cars in the garage.

With comfy seating positioned around the toddler area, grown-ups can feel at ease, and enjoy a hot drink whilst watching the children have fun.
